Sometimes it’s just a function of properly indexing the underlying tables or improving the design of reports and queries. Other times, there’s more data than Access, and your network, can handle. Access does a decent job of managing data, but SQL does it better. SQL is the preferred choice when you have hundreds of thousands, or millions, of records. With proper indexing and the use of stored procedures, you can push the workload from Access to SQL Server to present your data efficiently.
